Understanding the waitlist system and temporary access
Free-tier members join a waitlist queue when accessing the We Are Distributed app. Your position in the queue depends on your Career Pass points—complete starter activities to move up and unlock temporary access to restricted features.
The modal shows your current position as a pill at the top (e.g., "142nd place out of 18,420") and tells you how many people are ahead of you.
The waitlist is designed to reduce competition for jobs, whilst increasing the quality of applications for employers.
Viewing your rank and points
Your waitlist rank is determined by your total Career Pass points. Higher points move you ahead in the queue. Ties are broken by account age (older accounts rank higher).
The modal displays your current position and shows starter achievements you can complete to earn points and jump places:
Profile photo — 50 points
Profile bio — 25 points
Full profile — 100 points
First career check-in — 50 points
First Career Agent chat — 50 points
First workflow setup — 100 points
Each achievement appears as a tile in the modal. Completing activities immediately updates your rank.
Using temporary premium access
Click any unfinished achievement tile in the waitlist modal to unlock temporary access to that feature. You'll see a "Temporary access granted" message and be routed directly to the relevant area (Profile, Agent, etc.).
While in temporary access mode, you can use premium features like the AI Career Agent or workflow setup even on the free tier. This access lets you try the feature and complete the associated achievement.
Complete the achievement while you have temporary access to earn the points and permanently move up the queue.
The countdown
Once you complete all six starter achievements or reach #1 in the queue (nobody ahead of you), a countdown starts. This is average time it takes for a member on our platform to get a job. The waitlist modal displays the timer with cards showing Days, Hours, Minutes, and Seconds remaining.
During this countdown period, you still have access to the features you unlocked through temporary access or completed achievements.
What happens when access expires
After the countdown ends, your account is automatically activated. The waitlist modal stops appearing, and you gain access to all free features without gates or restrictions.
You won't see the waitlist modal again, and you can navigate freely within your tier's limits.
Account activation means the waitlist system no longer blocks your access—you've graduated from the queue.
Upgrading to skip the waitlist
You can bypass the waitlist entirely by upgrading to Lite membership. The waitlist modal shows subscription options on the right panel with monthly and yearly pricing.
Upgrading immediately bypasses the waitlist queue, the countdown and unlocks features within that specific tier.
