The Chief Corporate Development Officer (CCDO) is a senior executive responsible for defining, leading, and executing the firm’s enterprise-wide corporate development strategy, with a primary focus on inorganic growth through mergers, acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and other growth initiatives. This role serves as the strategic architect and operational leader for the full M&A lifecycle—from sourcing and valuation through diligence, execution, and post-transaction integration.

The CCDO is a visionary, results-driven leader with deep expertise in M&A strategy, market intelligence, relationship management, and cross-functional execution. As a member of the executive leadership team, the CCDO works closely with the CEO, executive management, and key functional leaders to ensure that all corporate development activities align with the firm’s long-term strategic objectives, financial goals, and cultural values.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate Development & Growth Strategy

  • Design and execute a comprehensive corporate development strategy to accelerate enterprise growth through acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, and strategic alliances.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prioritize inorganic growth opportunities consistent with the organization’s strategic vision and financial objectives.
  • Serve as a thought partner to the CEO and executive leadership team on long-range growth planning, capital allocation, and market expansion.

Mergers & Acquisitions Leadership

  • Lead the end-to-end M&A process, including target identification, strategic rationale development, valuation, deal structuring, negotiation, and closing.
  • Oversee due diligence across financial, operational, regulatory, cultural, and strategic dimensions.
  • Partner closely with Legal, Finance, HR, Operations, Technology, Investment Strategy, and Marketing to ensure disciplined and efficient transaction execution.
  • Build and maintain a robust M&A pipeline across targeted markets and business segments.

Relationship Origination & Market Presence

  • Cultivate senior-level relationships with potential sellers, founders, owners, advisory firms, investment bankers, and industry influencers.
  • Represent the firm externally as a senior executive in corporate development discussions, industry events, and strategic forums.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of market trends, competitive dynamics, and valuation benchmarks within the industry.

Integration & Value Realization

  • Lead post-acquisition integration strategy in partnership with executive and functional leaders to ensure realization of strategic and financial objectives.
  • Establish integration governance, performance metrics, and accountability structures.
  • Ensure a seamless transition for acquired organizations, preserving client relationships, talent, and culture.

Leadership & Governance

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing corporate development team.
  • Establish best practices, processes, and controls for corporate development initiatives.
  • Provide regular reporting and strategic insights to the CEO, executive leadership team, and Board of Directors.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, and fiduciary requirements relevant to corporate transactions.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline required; MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 12–15 years of progressive experience in corporate development, mergers & acquisitions, investment banking, strategy, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading complex M&A transactions and driving successful post-merger integration.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, financial acumen, negotiation, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to build credibility and trust with internal and external stakeholders.

Work Schedule & Conditions

  • Full-time executive leadership role with flexibility to travel as required.
  • Work performed in a professional office or home office environment.
  • Travel, sitting, standing, and light lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.
