Junior AI Data Engineer

Corticais looking for a Junior AI DataEngineer to join itsgrowingteam!

The Junior AI Data Engineer is an early-career role focused onlearning the craft of dataengineering while building AI-firsthabits from day one. Working under the guidance of seniorengineers, this role contributes to the data pipelines, models,andreporting thatpower care decisions, financial planning, andoperational efficiency atCortica.

This role partners with the data science, finance, and clinicaloperations teams on well-scoped tasks, growing towardindependent ownership over time. AI-assisted development ispart of the daily workflow: the Junior AI Data Engineer isexpected to use AI coding tools responsibly, verify their output,and build the judgment that turns AI acceleration into reliable,production-quality work.

What will you do?

  • Contribute to well-scoped data engineering tasks within largerprojects, following the full engineering lifecycle with guidance.

  • Use AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot)as part of daily development, verifying, correcting, and testing AI-generatedcode before committing it.

  • Follow the team’s context files (CLAUDE.md equivalents) andconventionsso AI-assisted work stays consistent withestablished patterns.

  • Help build andmaintaindata pipelines that ingest from AWS,Azure, Salesforce, MuleSoft, and third-party APIs into the AWSData Lake.

  • Assistin implementing data models using Kimballmethodology,learning dimensional modeling on the job.

  • Develop simple orchestration steps in Python, run basic data-qualitychecks, and help investigate data anomalies.

  • Support Power BI data models and reports and help analyticsteam members with data questions.

  • Assistwith small automation scripts and internal tooling thatconnect data pipelines to end users.

  • Followdata-securityand HIPAA practices in all work anddocument your work clearly so others (and AI agents) can buildon it.

  • Collaborate across IT, finance, clinical operations, and datascience.

  • Travel to localCorticacenters may be required from time to time.

We’dlove to hear from you if:

  • You hold abachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems,Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalentpractical experience).

  • You have 0—2 years of experience; havebuilt or contributed to at least 1—2end-to-end data pipelines (coursework, internship, bootcamp, orpersonal projects) that ingest, transform, and load data from asource into a destination.

  • You’refamiliarwithusing AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor,GitHub Copilot), orhave astrong eagerness to adopt AI-firstdevelopment workflows.

  • You bring6+ months of hands-on experience or coursework-equivalentPython; able to write scripts that read, clean, and transform data(e.g., using pandas).

  • You havedemonstratedanability to write intermediate SQL — joins acrossmultiple tables, aggregations (GROUP BY), filtering, and basicsubqueries.

  • You’vehad exposure to at least one cloud platform (AWS or Azure); afoundational certification such as AWS Certified CloudPractitioner or Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) is a plus.

  • You’vesuccessfully built at least one dashboard or report in Power BI,Tableau, or a similar tool (academic or personal projects count).

  • You’vedemonstratedanability to document technical work clearly andexplain it to non-technical audiences;you haveexperience collaboratingacross at least 2 teams or functions (e.g., a cross-functional classproject, internship, or club).

The salary range for this role is between$80,000 - $90,000.
