Location: Remote, US | Duration: 6 month fixed term contract

Hours: 40hpw (full time), available for synchronous collaboration 15:00- 20:00 UTC

Background Information

The Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) seeks an experienced Lead Product Partnerships Manager to increase the global reach of Wikipedia's products and knowledge in a rapidly changing web landscape. The successful candidate will serve as a front-facing representative for external partnerships where the primary value is directly tied to product integration and new distribution opportunities for the Product and Technology (P&T) department, working within P&T with our org-wide partnerships cohort.

This person will cultivate relationships to grow the reuse of Wikimedia content in new work in new products and spaces, as well as fostering increased presence of our content with existing reuse partners via adoption of Wikimedia attribution tools provided. Key audiences include AI providers, social/EdTech platforms, and other companies seeking product integration. This is a highly independent and self-directed lead position requiring candidates to possess existing, strong connections in the soft and hardware tech space.

Scope of Work

  • New Product & Technology Partnerships Cultivation: Identify and secure new partnerships with existing and new technology platform partners. Collaborating closely with Product and Design teams, define and execute on a portfolio of non-commercial value exchange partnerships that advance the P&T department’s strategic goals, exploring areas such as new product development and integrations; data- and lead-sharing; and/or in-kind donations of technical products/services..
  • Attribution and Content Reuse: Assist in designing and and securing pilots with high-priority Wikimedia content reusers to drive attribution visibility by adopting the Wikimedia Attribution Framework and API.
  • Cross-organizational Collaboration: Coordinate across teams and departments (WME, Legal, Communications, Fundraising, Content Enablement, Community Resources & Partnerships) to build and maintain an up-to-date partner and opportunity pipeline. Be the voice of Product and Technology in cross-departmental discussions of the reuser and partner ecosystem.
  • Execution and Coordination: Manage partnership processes and artifacts, including drafting LOI/MOUs (zero-dollar contracts), CRM management, creating pitch decks, and coordinating with other Partnerships staff across departments and teams.
  • Industry Engagement: Attend relevant conferences, events, and gatherings to represent the needs of our organization and share back industry intelligence on product and technology trends. Monitor technology news to identify new launches that may impact our goals or provide new partnership opportunities.

Deliverables/Responsibilities

  • Creating LOI/MOUs (zero-dollar contracts)
  • CRM management in concert with Partnerships cohort across the organization
  • Creating & refining pitch decks
  • Creating, refining, & implementing pitch strategy (developing lists of friendlies, managing comms & scheduling with partners)
  • Strong product and technical fluency to align the P&T product roadmap for high-scale reusers, ensuring alignment on data formats, reliability SLAs, and repeatable "Partner Kits".
  • Coordinating with other Partnerships staff across departments/teams
  • Attending partner conferences/events
  • Monitoring for new partnership opportunities around new product releases

Skills

  • Proven experience forming and managing high-level, multi-stakeholder partnerships, particularly in the technology and/or media industry, with demonstrated independence and self-direction expected in a lead role.
  • Existing Network: Strong connections across the media and technology ecosystem, particularly within AI, social, media, and EdTech platforms
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the proven ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders, and operate in a complex, consensus-driven, cross-cultural environment.
  • Analytical mindset to uncover and independently analyze insights from partners and market conditions.
  • Experience in program/project management, including workflow management, managing comms and scheduling with partners, and note-taking and following up on action items.
  • A passion for the mission and values of the Wikimedia movement.

The Wikimedia Foundation is a remote-first organization with staff members including contractors based 40+ countries ***** . Salaries at the Wikimedia Foundation are set in a way that is competitive, equitable, and consistent with our values and culture. The anticipated annual pay range of this position for applicants based within the United States is US$ 133,121 to US$ 207,388 with multiple individualized factors, including cost of living in the location, being the determinants of the offered pay. For applicants located outside of the US, the pay range will be adjusted to the country of hire. We neither ask for nor take into consideration the salary history of applicants. The compensation for a successful applicant will be based on their skills, experience and location.
