Job Summary:The Private Market Operations Specialist is responsible for ensuring data integrity, reporting accuracy, and operational continuity across Private Investment Services systems—primarily Orion and Arch. This role owns the data feed between various alternative reporting systems and Orion, ensures private investment positions are correctly reflected in all reporting environments, and supports onboarding of new private investment accounts for both organic clients and M&A-acquired firms.
Essential Job Functions for this role include:Ensure accurate private investment reporting in Orion, including positions, transactions, valuations, and performance.Own and manage the Arch → Orion data feed, validating that all private investment data flows correctly.Monitor daily data exceptions and reconciliation reports, resolving breaks across Arch, Orion, and custodial records.Troubleshoot data mapping issues, valuation discrepancies, and performance calculation errors with internal teams and vendors.Assist with the private investment portion of M&A onboarding, including data migration, position setup, and historical mapping.Review and convert legacy spreadsheets or systems from acquired firms into Arch and Orion.Support processing and validation of capital calls, distributions, and periodic valuations as needed.Maintain documentation for reporting standards, system workflows, and data processes.Collaborate with Technology, Data Engineering, Reporting, and Operations teams to ensure data integrity and system stability.Communicate clearly with advisors and internal stakeholders regarding reporting status, data issues, and resolutions.Other duties as needed
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:3–5 years of experience in investment operations, data operations, portfolio accounting, or alternative investments.Strong understanding of Orion (or similar reporting systems), including reconciliation, data mapping, and performance reporting.Working knowledge of private market investments, including capital calls, distributions, valuations, and fund statements.Experience managing or troubleshooting data feeds between financial systems and resolving data discrepancies.Ability to interpret custodial records, investment statements, and fund documentation with a high level of accuracy.Advanced analytical and problem‑solving skills, with strong attention to detail and proficiency in Excel.Effective communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally with technology teams, data teams, advisors, and custodians.
Work Schedule:This professional role requires availability Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Working Conditions:Professional office environment, daytime hours, working inside, standing, and sitting, will be assigned to a workstation, no heavy lifting over 20 lbs.
Actual base pay within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s geographic location, relevant experience, education, skills and licenses/certifications. This position is also eligible to earn incentive compensation through one of Mercer Advisors’ incentive compensation programs.
