Senior Director - Payment Solutions, Remote

The Senior Director of Payments Solutions is a highly visible and mission-critical role that will lead the technical transformation of Aledade's Practice Payments operations. Reporting to the VP of Enterprise Applications, this role will oversee the technical team and solutions architecture required to scale our payment operations from current levels (24+ payment types) to over $2B in annual Practice Payments within 2-3 years. This position is essential to Aledade's ability to fulfill our contractual payment obligations to healthcare practice partners and will directly impact our operational success and growth trajectory. 

We are looking for a player-coach who is hands-on and is able to scale across strategic topics as well as get into the details and work alongside their team. The Sr. Director must be highly collaborative and effective at working across business functions and organizational boundaries. Success in this role is highly dependent on the ability to be collaborative and effectively influence across the organization.

Primary Duties:

Technical Solutions Leadership

Lead the Payment Solutions technical team (Business Analyst, 2 System Administrators to start, additional team growth is expected) in designing and implementing scalable payment solutions

Oversee current payment technology stack and drive optimization of existing solutions (QuickCap, NetSuite, etc.)

Spearhead the evaluation and implementation of a second payment solution to handle non-claims based payment types

Ensure payment systems architecture can scale to support $2B+ in annual payment volume

Drive automation initiatives to eliminate manual processes between market leaders, central business owners, Payments and Finance teams

Team Building & Leadership

Manage and develop initial team of 3 direct reports (1 Business Analyst, 2 System Administrators)

Build strategic hiring plan and organizational structure to scale the Payments team in alignment with business growth

Define roles, responsibilities, and career progression paths for expanding payment operations team

Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and operational reliability

Establish team processes and methodologies to support rapid scaling while maintaining quality

Process Architecture & Standardization

Design standardized, scalable workflows for all 24+ payment types currently managed

Develop technical specifications and requirements for payment processing improvements

Create systematic approaches to bank reconciliation processes to address current pain points

Establish playbook (including technical guardrails, approval workflows and org-wide implications) to facilitate standing up new payment types

Cross-Functional Partnership & Governance

Partner with Security team to ensure payment solutions meet cybersecurity and data protection standards

Collaborate with CRG (Compliance, Risk, Governance) team on regulatory requirements and governance frameworks

Work closely with Growth, Provider Networks, and Finance teams to ensure streamlined handoffs for full end-to-end processes, in compliance with audit and SOX requirements

Support Growth and Provider Networks teams by defining technical feasibility parameters for new payment options during contract negotiations

Work with Engineering and Analytics teams to ensure compliance with organizational data architecture standards

Systems Integration & Management

Oversee integration between payment solutions and existing enterprise applications

Ensure seamless data flow between payment systems, financial systems, and reporting platforms

Standardize the user experience across the various payment systems and processes

Manage vendor relationships for payment technology solutions

Drive system performance monitoring and optimization initiatives

Strategic Planning & Execution

Develop technical roadmap for payment solutions that aligns with business growth projections

Create scalability assessments and capacity planning for payment infrastructure

Establish technical KPIs and metrics for payment system performance and reliability

Support enterprise-wide Payments Excellence program with technical expertise and solutions

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Finance, or related technical field; advanced degree preferred

12+ years of experience managing payments technology, financial systems, or enterprise applications

3-5 years of experience implementing payment systems, processes, and related technology and support adoption by working with business partners and stakeholders

5+ years of management experience leading technical teams, with demonstrated ability to scale organizations

Extensive hands-on experience with payment processing systems and financial technology platforms

Proven track record scaling payment operations in high-growth environments

Strong understanding of payment reconciliation, financial controls, and audit requirements

Experience with enterprise system integrations and data management

Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-visibility technical initiatives

Experience building and scaling technical teams from startup through enterprise levels

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

Experience with QuickCap, NetSuite, or similar enterprise payment/ERP solutions

Ideal candidate will have deep healthcare industry expertise, particularly in value-based care models and payor contract structures, to ensure our practice payment solutions meet all specialized accounting requirements

Background in financial services or fintech environments

Experience with API integrations and payment gateway technologies

Knowledge of banking systems, ACH processing, and financial reconciliation platforms

Project management certification (PMP) or similar credentials

Strong communication skills for presenting to executive-level stakeholders

Physical Requirements:

Sitting for prolonged periods of time. Extensive use of computers and keyboard. Occasional walking and lifting may be required.
