Summary:

The Senior Financial Associate of Strategic Initiatives is responsible for the financial stewardship and performance reporting of GoodLeap's new credit card program. This role will focus on building the financial operating infrastructure to support a successful, growing card business.

 

This role sits at the intersection of three critical functions: providing executives with clear, data-driven views of the card program's financial performance; partnering with the capital markets team on portfolio strategy decisions, including the timing and structure of investor sales; and serving as GoodLeap's primary financial point of contact with the issuing bank, ensuring all reporting obligations are met and all bank approval requests are handled with precision and professionalism.

 

This role combines strong financial modeling and analytical skills with an understanding of credit card program economics and the needs of different types of institutional investors. This role will have the ability to build financial processes from the ground up and are equally comfortable presenting to executive leadership as they are coordinating with an issuing bank partner on program compliance materials.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities 

Finance & Executive Reporting:

Build and maintain monthly, quarterly, and Job annual financial reporting packages for executive leadership, covering revenue, cost of funds, credit losses, and operating expenses across the credit card portfolio.

Conduct actual-vs.-projected variance analysis to identify performance drivers, communicate findings and recommend corrective actions or strategic adjustments.

Develop and maintain financial models to forecast card portfolio performance, including spend volumes, interchange revenue, net interest income, and credit loss trajectories.

Identify opportunities to optimize the cost structure of the card program, including issuing bank fees, processing costs, and credit loss reserves, and propose changes to drive margin improvement.

Manage vendor financial relationships to drive further margin improvement.

Partner with Data Analytics to build and maintain performance dashboards and standardized reporting templates that enable data-driven decision-making across finance and product leadership.

Monitor industry benchmarks and competitive card economics to contextualize GoodLeap's performance and surface opportunities for improvement.

Capital Markets & Portfolio Management:

Partner closely with Accounting/FP&Aand the Capital Markets team to support portfolio-level decisions, including thetiming, structure, and sizing of credit card account sales andsecuritizations.

Analyze portfolio performance metrics,including delinquency rates, loss curves,prepayment rates, performance of aged accounts, and portfolio yieldto informoptimal timing and structure for portfolio sales or financing transactions.

Trackand report on portfolio sale economics—including gain-on-sale margins andretained servicing obligationsand incorporate transaction outcomes into ongoingfinancial forecasting.

Track and balance net interchange revenue and cardholderreward liability to ensure equilibrium.

Determine portfolio sale sizing and timingto balance equity requirement of the program.

Issuing Bank Relationship Management:

Serve as GoodLeap's primary financial point of contact with the issuing bank partner, owning the day-to-day relationship and ensuring all financial communications are clear, timely, and professional.

Proactively manage the calendar of bank reporting obligations, ensuring all materials are delivered on time and in the format required by the bank.

Respond promptly and accurately to bank requests for financial information, ad-hoc analyses, and supporting documentation; coordinate internally across Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Product to gather inputs and meet bank deadlines.

Maintain a deep understanding of contractual obligations under the bank program agreement, including reporting cadences, performance covenant thresholds, and approval requirements; proactively flag potential issues before they become compliance risks.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or a related field.

5–7+ years of experience in finance, financial planning & analysis, or capital markets,preferably within credit card, fintech, or financial services.

Strong financial modeling skills with demonstrated experience building and maintainingcomplex multi-variable models for forecasting, scenario analysis, and portfolio performance.

Experience with financial planning and analysis functions including budget planning, varianceanalysis, and executive reporting; proven ability to translate financial data into clear,actionable insights for senior leadership.

Experience managing institutional relationships—including bank partners, investors, or ratingagencies—with demonstrated ability to manage reporting calendars, respond to requestsunder time pressure, and maintain credible, professional relationships.

Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to distill complex financial informationinto clear executive-level narratives and maintain high-quality written deliverables for externalbank partners.

Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort operating in ambiguity; energized by building processesand financial infrastructure from the ground up in a fast-moving startup-like environment.

Compensation: $120,000 - $140,000 annually
