Software Engineer - Web Backend (Medior/Senior), Hungary

We are looking for Software Engineers (medior to senior level) with deep backend development knowledge who seek challenges, focus on engineering craftsmanship, quality, and innovation and have a sense of urgency to increase the quality of mobile apps worldwide.

Our customers range from fast-moving startups to some of the world's largest enterprises. The product is complex, the problems are real, and the bar is high. You'll be part of a self-governing, cross-functional team alongside Product Managers, Designers, Researchers, and fellow Engineers, spending most of your time on our backend services built in Ruby and Go. 

​

At Bitrise, every engineer is expected to operate with a full-stack mindset. You'll primarily own the backend, but you're expected to understand the full picture, contribute across the stack when it matters, and own the product.

We are expecting engineers to use AI coding tools as a natural part of how they work, not as an experiment, but as a daily habit. If you've built a workflow around agentic coding and you're always looking for the next thing to try, you'll fit right in.

The gross monthly salary for these roles:

​

• Medior: 1,300,000–1,950,000 HUF
• Senior: 1,750,000– 2,916,000 HUF

As a Backend Engineer at Bitrise you will

​

• Build highly scalable and fault-tolerant web services in Ruby and Go
• Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs
• Participate in on-call rotation, manage incidents, and run post-mortems
• Own and influence architectural decisions in your product team
• Contribute to cross-team technical initiatives
• Help raise the bar on engineering quality and developer experience

Key skills and characteristics

​

• Experience building and operating production backend services
• Experience in or willingness to learn Ruby and Go
• A genuine fullstack mindset. Your focus is backend, but you're comfortable navigating frontend code, understand how the system fits together, and excited to contribute outside your primary area
• Strong data-driven thinking and a genuine focus on the customer
• Able to navigate ambiguity and communicate technical decisions clearly
• Clear written and verbal communication in English
• You actively use AI-assisted and agentic coding tools in your daily workflow, or you're already on that path and can demonstrate it. This is how we work, not a nice-to-have

• Experience refactoring large codebases into smaller, well-scoped services
• Designing and optimizing relational and non-relational data stores
• Continuous Delivery experience and working in CD environments
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and PaaS environments
