Who is Flock?

Our hardware and software suite connects cities, law enforcement, businesses, schools, and neighborhoods in a nationwide public-private safety network. Trusted by over 5,000 communities, 4,500 law enforcement agencies, and 1,000 businesses, Flock delivers real-time intelligence while prioritizing privacy and responsible innovation.

We’re a high-performance, low-ego team driven by urgency, collaboration, and bold thinking. Working at Flock means tackling big challenges, moving fast, and continuously improving. It’s intense but deeply rewarding for those who want to make an impact.

With nearly $700M in venture funding and a $7.5B valuation, we’re scaling intentionally and seeking top talent to help build the impossible. If you value teamwork, ownership, and solving tough problems, Flock could be the place for you.

The Opportunity

As a Software Engineer II, Aviation Solutions at Flock Safety, you’ll be part of our Aviation Software organization - focused on building the next generation of DFR Software and Solutions.

You’ll take on some of the most challenging engineering escalations, digging into code-level behavior, validating bugs, analyzing system performance, and building tools or solutions that unblock both customers and internal teams. Your work will drive better software solutions that scale to support mission-critical environments.

You’ll collaborate directly with DFR partners, Customers, and Engineers, translating nuanced technical findings into clear guidance and helping shape how our products operate in the field. It’s a role for someone who loves solving ambiguous technical problems, thrives in fast-moving environments, and enjoys both hands-on engineering work and human collaboration.

We’re looking for a software engineer who is adaptable, energized by learning, and motivated to grow their career as a software engineer.

The Skillset

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Aviation Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong programming and scripting skills in Go, Powershell, or TypeScript
  • Experience with flight networking systems (preferred in secure or regulated environments like aviation, law enforcement, or defense).
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization (Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical problems, especially involving hardware/software integration in field environments.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional coordination with non-technical aviation stakeholders.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across systems, integrations, and APIs.
  • Proficiency in querying and analyzing data (SQL).
  • Experience with reporting and visualization tools (Grafana, PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g., VPNs, firewalls, routing).
  • Prior client-facing or consulting experience in aviation, law enforcement, defense, or critical infrastructure.
  • Driven by impact and mission readiness. Able to jump in when customers or field systems need critical support, even outside normal hours.
  • Knowledge of aviation drone standards, such as FAA Part 107.

Feeling uneasy that you haven’t ticked every box? That’s okay; we’ve felt that way too. Studies have shown women and minorities are less likely to apply unless they meet all qualifications. We encourage you to break the status quo and apply to roles that would make you excited to come to work every day.
