The Role

Quanata (San Francisco, CA) seeks a Senior Back End Engineer to design, build, and maintain the critical backend services that power our various insurance platforms. Specific duties include: analyze and design critical backend systems that power the business; help develop systems that dynamically provide rewards to safe drivers; coordinate cutting-edge models to increase the intelligence of the company’s industry leading policy management solution; optimize the company’s application's architecture and observability to meet the performance demands of a rapidly growing user base; design APIs, orchestrate data flows, create/manage databases, and build automated test suites; lead the design and implementation of substantial product features end-to-end and evaluate and integrate third-party services and tools. Must take and pass a series of pre-hire technical assessments evaluating competencies in API design, code structure, and system architecture, including the Refactoring Challenge, Integration Challenge, and System Design Challenge. Option to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. Occasional quarterly travel may be required within the U.S. for team meetings or company gatherings.

Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Mathematics and Computer Science, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Lead Software Engineer, Computer Programmer Analyst, Senior Product Associate, Software Engineer, or similar senior software engineering position in backend services. Must have 5 years of experience building high performance client/server systems. Must also have 3 years of experience with the following: working with service-oriented architecture patterns; designing and using relational databases. Must have 1 year of experience working with Go. Specific experience must also include the following: working with Postgres, AWS, Kafka, Python, JavaScript, Docker, and Swagger; working in a financial sector such as insurance, banking, or investing. Must take and pass a series of pre-hire technical assessments evaluating competencies in API design, code structure, and system architecture, including the Refactoring Challenge, Integration Challenge, and System Design Challenge. Option to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S. Occasional quarterly travel may be required within the U.S. for team meetings or company gatherings. Salary: $270,660/yr.

Employees based in the San Francisco Bay Area or in Providence, Rhode Island may commute to one of our local offices as desired.
  • Hours : We maintain core meeting hours from 9AM - 3PM Pacific time for collaborating with team members across all time zones.
