AboutSuper.com

We started Super.com to help maximize lives–both the lives of our customers and the lives of our team – so that everyone can experience all that life has to offer. For our employees, our promise is that Super.com is more than just a job; it’s an opportunity to unlock one’s potential, where learning is celebrated and impact is realized. We are more than a fast-paced, high-growth tech company; we care about our people and take career progression seriously. This is your career and our aim is to supercharge it through the people, the work, and the programs that fuel who we are.

About the role

Payments at Super.com spans two business models with different mechanics. Our travel business runs high-value one-time transactions with authorization holds, delayed capture, and cancellation-driven disputes. Our subscription business runs recurring billing, where retry logic, credential lifecycle, and involuntary churn drive the numbers. You will own both. This is a senior individual contributor role. You will be the lead of the payments MAT (mission-aligned team): accountable for execution of the team’s roadmap priorities and delivery, and leading it through clarity, credibility, and influence rather than reporting lines. The role will report to the Head of Payments and disputes. Fraud prevention sits with a separate department, and disputes sits with a dedicated disputes function. You will partner closely with both, as routing, authorization rate, and 3DS decisions cut across all three.

About the team

This role sits on the payments team at Super.com . Functionally we report into Finance, but we operate as a cross-functional, mission-aligned team (MAT), partnering with engineering, product, data, and commercial leaders to provide best in class payments experiences to our customers and partners, while increasing the likelihood of positive, profitable transactions. The MAT is made up primarily of engineers, along with a technical account manager.

What you'll be working on:

  • Build and drive the payments product roadmap in partnership with the Head of Payments. You will translate strategic direction into a sequenced, defensible roadmap, and you will be expected to make the case for a different direction when the data supports one.
  • Write the requirements. PRDs and business requirements that engineers can build from, covering failure paths, reconciliation impact, and explicit scope boundaries.
  • Lead the payments MAT. Set the team's priorities and cadence, run planning, and represent the team's work and needs to the wider business. Partner with the engineering manager, who owns engineering execution and the engineers themselves.
  • Own delivery. Sequence work, remove blockers, and manage scope. You are accountable for the success of whether an initiative ships.
  • Act as the day-to-day payments SME for the business. Teams across the company will come to you for guidance on processing, routing, and payment method decisions.
  • Own dynamic routing strategy: design it, tune it, and demonstrate the impact with data.
  • Lead payments market entry as we expand internationally, assessing local method coverage, acquiring strategy, currency and FX handling, and the regulatory requirements of each market.
  • Turn data into decisions. Assess authorization rates, decline patterns, cost per transaction, and settlement performance, and make the tradeoff calls that follow.
  • Report monthly to Finance and company-wide updates on delivery, performance against targets, upcoming priorities, and what you need to execute.
  • Stay ahead of industry and regulatory change (SCA, network rules, local scheme requirements, APM adoption) and translate it into roadmap decisions before it becomes urgent.

What we're looking for:

  • 7+ years hands-on with a complex, tech-forward payments stack, including gateways, processors and acquirers, vaulting and tokenization, alternative payment methods, and dispute tooling. Merchant-side experience is essential; issuer exposure is an advantage.
  • Fluency in both one-time payments and recurring billing. You understand authorization holds, delayed capture, and settlement on high-value one-time transactions, as well as recurring billing mechanics: dunning and retry strategy, network tokens and account updater, credential-on-file and MIT versus CIT handling, and the drivers of involuntary churn. Depth in one model with credible working knowledge of the other is acceptable.
  • A track record of shipping. You have led global, cross-functional payments initiatives from requirements through launch, and through the stabilization period that follows.
  • Product craft. You write clear requirements, you can defend a prioritization decision on its merits, and you are disciplined about scope.
  • Payments engineering and data fluency sufficient to direct technical work, interrogate an estimate, and engage credibly with senior engineers on architecture.
  • Market entry experience. You have launched payments in markets that were new to you, and you can get up to speed on an unfamiliar market quickly.
  • The ability to lead without formal authority in a matrixed environment, with the judgment to know when to escalate instead.
  • Executive communication. You can present complex payments topics to senior leadership concisely and bring them to a clear decision.
  • Resourceful and self-directed. You prioritize shifting workloads in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment without waiting to be told what matters.

Bonus points for:

  • Direct payments experience in APAC, EEA or LATAM, particularly in markets where a card-first strategy is not the right approach.
  • Experience in high-volume consumer businesses, and familiarity with marketplace, travel, or e-commerce payment flows.
  • Exposure to disputes and chargeback data, and how it informs routing and processor strategy.
