Strategy & Operations Manager, Subscription Value Prop & New Benefits

About the team

The Value Proposition & New Benefits team owns what our core value proposition for subscription should be, and the new benefits that bring it to life. We sit within the wider Subscription EMEA org, whose vision is to create the world's leading membership programme in local commerce, delivering unprecedented value and a world-class experience to members.

About the role

We're looking for a Strategy & Operations Manager to own strategy and execution for new benefits within Subscription. This is a hybrid strategy/build/run role: you'll define what to launch, then work cross-functionally to get it shipped and measure whether it's working. You'll be expected to move fluidly between strategic thinking and hands-on execution - this is not a role where strategy stops at a slide deck.

Typical problems you'll solve:

  • What new benefits should we launch for Subscription - which ideas are worth pursuing, and what's the business case for each?
  • How do we prioritise and sequence a pipeline of benefit ideas against limited engineering, design, and operational capacity?
  • How do we define success for a new benefit before launch - what does a good outcome look like, and what would tell us to kill it?
  • Once live, how is a benefit actually performing - impact on acquisition, retention, frequency, and member satisfaction - against its cost to serve, and what does that tell us to do next?
  • How do we take a benefit from a small pilot to a scaled, steady-state feature, and what needs to be true operationally for that to work?

What you'll be doing

  • Own the strategy and roadmapfor new benefits within Subscription - build the analysis, the business case, and the plan, and drive it through to execution.
  • Cross-functional delivery- partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Data Science, Marketing, and Finance to take benefit ideas from concept to launch, without formal authority over any of them.
  • Build and prioritise the benefit pipeline- evaluate a stream of ideas (experiential, use-case specific, or otherwise), size their potential impact and cost, and decide what's worth building next.
  • Track ongoing performance- maintain visibility into each live benefit's impact on acquisition, retention, frequency, and satisfaction against its cost to serve, flagging when something needs attention.
  • Scale what works- take benefits from small pilots to steady-state features, defining the operating model, reporting cadence, and processes needed to run them sustainably.
  • Bring outside-in perspective- track what Uber One, DashPass, Wolt+, Just Eat and Amazon Prime are doing with membership benefits, and translate what's relevant into Deliveroo's context.
  • Communicate to senior stakeholders- write clear strategy documents and present recommendations, trade-offs, and results to leadership.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in strategy & operations, strategy consulting, or business operations - ideally with exposure to marketplaces, subscription/membership businesses, or consumer tech.
  • Commercial acumen: strong understanding of marketplace dynamics and subscriber value; comfortable building a business case and owning a set of P&L-adjacent metrics.
  • Analytical rigor: comfortable interpreting data and experiment results to make a clear business call - you'll partner with Data Science on the "how" and "so what."
  • Bias for action and ownership: able to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous problems ("what should we build, and how will we know it worked?"), and to drive execution personally rather than just recommend.
  • Cross-functional influence: track record of aligning senior stakeholders and diverse functions (Product, Eng, Finance, Marketing) around a shared plan in a fast-moving, matrixed environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication - able to distill complex trade-offs into a clear recommendation for leadership.
