player in theOffshore Energy and Subsea industry.The position supports amajor international offshore energy development project in Africa, involving complex subcontracting activities, marine services and offshore operations.Based inParis – La Défense, the successful candidate will join the Project Procurement team and play a key role in managing subcontracting activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring contractual compliance, commercial performance and effective risk management.Job DescriptionReporting to theProject Procurement Manager, the Subcontract Engineer / Chartering Specialist will be responsible for thepreparation, negotiation, award and administration of subcontractscovering project services and offshore operations.The role encompasses the entire subcontract lifecycle, from sourcing strategy and tendering to contract execution, claims management and close-out, with additional responsibilities related to vessel chartering.Key Responsibilities:Subcontract Management & ProcurementManage end-to-end subcontracting activities, including procurement planning, tendering, contract award, administration and close-out.Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) based on technical specifications, commercial requirements and project needs.Coordinate technical, HSE, quality, legal, financial and insurance evaluations of subcontractors and commercial proposals.Conduct commercial bid evaluations, manage clarifications and prepare recommendations for contract award.Negotiate contractual terms and conditions, including pricing, payment terms, liabilities, guarantees, variations and risk allocation.Ensure subcontract awards comply with internal procurement policies, approved contractual templates and applicable legal frameworks.Contract Administration & Claims ManagementMonitor subcontractor performance, contractual obligations, deliverables, milestones, costs and invoicing.Manage contractual correspondence, amendments, variations, disputes and claims throughout project execution.Identify and mitigate contractual and commercial risks affecting project costs, schedules and performance.Coordinate subcontract progress meetings, monitor action plans and escalate critical issues to project management.Manage final account settlements, subcontractor performance evaluations and contractual close-out activities.Vessel Chartering & Marine ServicesSupport vessel chartering activities, including RFQ preparation, commercial evaluations and negotiations with shipowners, brokers and marine service providers.Participate in charter party negotiations, including the use ofBIMCO-based contractual frameworkswhere applicable.Coordinate with marine and project teams to monitor charter execution, contractual compliance and vessel performance.Contribute to cost-effective and compliant marine logistics and offshore service arrangements.Project Coordination & ComplianceCollaborate with Engineering, Operations, Marine, Legal, HSE, Quality, Finance and Cost Control teams.Maintain accurate contract records, ERP data, procurement documentation and commercial reporting.Ensure subcontractor compliance with HSE, quality, ethical and regulatory requirements.Support and guide junior procurement professionals involved in subcontracting activities.QualificationsEducationDegree inEngineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, Logisticsor a related discipline.Professional Experience5–10 years of experiencein subcontracting, contract administration, project procurement or construction and services contracting.Proven experience managing the full subcontract lifecycle, includingtendering, negotiation, contract award, post-award administration, variations, claims and close-out.Experience inOffshore Energy, Oil & Gas, Subsea, Engineering or Construction projects.Previous exposure tovessel chartering, marine services or offshore logisticswould be an advantage.Familiarity withBIMCO contracts, charter party agreements and marine contracting practices is desirable.Technical SkillsStrong knowledge of subcontracting strategies, commercial evaluations and contractual negotiations.Experience in contract drafting, claims management and change control.Understanding of commercial risk allocation, cost control and contractual compliance.Proficiency in ERP systems, procurement reporting and contract documentation.Ability to manage complex subcontracting packages and coordinate multidisciplinary stakeholders.LanguagesEnglish:Fluent professional proficiency required.French or Portuguese:Considered an advantage.Personal SkillsExcellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.Strong commercial judgment and analytical capabilities.Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.Proactive approach to contractual risk identification and problem-solving.Strong organizational skills and attention to
