Singularity is an aerospace and defense startup headquartered in Gardena, CA. Our founding team hails from SpaceX, Anduril, and Lockheed Martin, and we are backed by Joint Staff-level military leadership and several Silicon Valley firms. Our first product is a low-cost air defense system built for immediate deployment worldwide. With a world-class business development and leadership team already in place, we are well positioned to capitalize on already overwhelming demand.
As a Systems Engineer, you'll drive how our flight vehicle holds together as a system: its subsystems, the interfaces between them, and the evidence that it all works in the environments it has to survive. You'll decompose mission needs into subsystem requirements, define and control interfaces across hardware, software, and electrical domains, and lead the path to verification through bench, environmental, and flight test. You'll work alongside GNC, flight software, avionics, propulsion, structures, and test, and you'll be hands-on in the lab and on the range. If you've taken hardware from concept through qualification and flight, and you want to do it on a system that must work the first time while establishing the appropriate layers of process, this is your chance.Key Responsibilities:Develop system architecture and derive, allocate, and maintain subsystem requirements across avionics, propulsion, structures, power, GNC, and flight softwareMaintain interface control documents (ICDs) for mechanical, electrical, data, and software interfaces, both internally and with suppliers, partners, and customersBuild and maintain the system model, keeping requirements, interfaces, and verification traceablePlan and support environmental qualification and acceptance testing: vibration, shock, thermal, thermal vacuum, altitude, humidity, and EMI/EMC, per MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, or program-tailored standardsWrite test plans and procedures for critical subsystems, and support vehicle-level integration and acceptance testingOwn verification and validation, making sure every requirement has a clear method (test, analysis, inspection, demonstration) and a path to closureSupport day-to-day technical work across design, software, and test teams, resolving interface conflicts and cross-subsystem issues as they ariseSupport test data analysis, anomaly resolution, and failure investigations to find root cause and drive corrective actionsBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a STEM field4+ years of engineering experience, with significant time in systems engineering on flight vehicles, missiles, or comparable complex systemsHands-on experience with requirements development and management, interface definition (ICDs), and verification across hardware and softwareDirect experience planning or executing environmental qualification or acceptance testingWorking knowledge across mechanical, electrical, software, and controls disciplinesAbility to travel for test campaignsAbility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearancePreferred Qualifications:M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering, math, or physicsExperience taking a flight vehicle or subsystem through qualification and flight testFamiliarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1540/SMC-S-016, or similar test standardsUnderstanding of aerodynamics, avionics, GNC, and flight systemsProficiency in Python with exposure to C/C++ as a bonusFamiliarity with system safety, reliability, and configuration management
