The role
We’re looking for a technical sourcer to help build the team at Applied Compute. You’ll find, engage, and close the engineers and researchers who will shape what we build. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role where you’ll work closely with recruiting, hiring managers, and founders to map talent markets, run targeted outreach, and keep a steady flow of exceptional candidates moving through the pipeline. You’ll own top-of-funnel for our technical roles while helping build the sourcing strategy, systems, and processes that let Applied Compute hire exceptional people at scale. What you'll do Own top-of-funnel for technical hiring
- Source and engage top engineering and research talent across GitHub, LinkedIn, publications, open-source communities, conferences, and your own network
- Own strategy on outreaches and engagements
- Run first conversations with candidates
Partner with hiring managers
- Work closely with hiring managers to understand each role deeply: the technical requirements, the profile that succeeds here, and what to calibrate against
- Build and maintain talent maps of target companies, labs, and research groups
- Share regular pipeline updates and market insights to refine search strategy
Build and improve sourcing operations
- Use Ashby and other sourcing tools to build scalable outreach workflows, sequences, and pipeline tracking
- Track funnel metrics such as response rates, pass-through rates, and source of hire, and use them to improve what’s working
- Support recruiting initiatives across employer branding, events, and referral programs
What we're looking for
- Experience in technical sourcing or recruiting, ideally for engineering, ML, or research roles in a fast-paced startup environment
- Strong technical fluency
- Exceptional written communication
- Creative, resourceful sourcing instincts
- High ownership. You treat the pipeline as your own and push to hit hiring goals.
- Data-driven mindset. You track your funnel and iterate on your approach.
- Candidate-first mindset. You build real relationships and represent Applied Compute thoughtfully.
- Excited about an in-person culture (5 days in SF)
STRONG CANDIDATES ALSO HAVE
- Experience sourcing for AI/ML research or infrastructure roles
- An established network across top engineering and research communities
- A track record of making key hires at an early-stage, high-growth company
- Experience building sourcing processes or infrastructure from zero to one
- Interest in growing into a full-cycle recruiting role
The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $130,000–$170,000 . Total compensation for this role also includes meaningful equity in a fast-growing startup, along with a comprehensive benefits package designed to support you both personally and professionally. Base salary is determined by a range of factors including individual qualifications, experience, skills, interview performance, market data, and work location. The listed salary range is intended as a guideline and may be adjusted.
