The six seats
Directors shows your seats as a ring around you. Click a seat to turn it to the top and see its file on the right.
| Seat | Who it's for |
|---|---|
| Been-There | Has done the role you want next |
| Industry Insider | Knows your sector's players |
| Contrarian | Pokes holes in your plans |
| Sponsor | Spends their reputation on you |
| Peer Mirror | Is at your level |
| Wild Card | Brings an outside angle |
The top of the page shows how many seats are filled and how many people haven't answered yet.
How many seats your plan holds
| Free | Lite | Plus | Extra | Premium |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| No seats | 3 | 6 | 6 | 6 |
On Lite you choose which three seats to fill. Once your seats are taken, the others show as Locked, with Move to the next plan. Someone you've invited holds a seat until they answer.
Invite someone to a seat
Anyone in your contacts can be offered a seat, as long as you have their email address. Each person can hold one seat.
- Click an open seat. Under Who to ask, Board of Directors suggests people from your contacts. Click Ask followed by their name, or Pick someone else from your contacts.
- You can also click Invite to a seat at the top of the page, or Offer a seat in a contact's panel in Contacts.
- In the sheet, check the Seat and who it's going To. Click Change to pick someone else.
- No email for them yet? Enter it and click Save email. It's saved to their contact.
- Not in your contacts? Click Add someone new, enter their Name and Email, and click Add to contacts. They count towards your plan's contacts.
- Under What followed by their first name and gets, read the email they'll receive and edit the note. It asks for 30 minutes on a call every six weeks or so, a one-page brief before each call, and says they can step down any time.
- Click Send invite.
They get one email, and don't need an account to say yes. While you wait, the seat shows Invite sent with the date and your note.
Nudge or withdraw an invite
- Click Send a nudge to email them again with a fresh link. You can nudge once a day, and the link in the earlier email stops working.
- Click Withdraw invite, then confirm, to take the invite back and open the seat again.
Invites last 30 days.
When they answer
The person you invited opens the link and clicks Yes, I'll join or No, thanks.
- Yes: the seat shows them, with Said yes and the date, and they move to the inner ring on Home. You get an email saying they said yes, and they get one saying they're on your Board of Directors.
- No: the seat opens again and shows Declined with the date. You aren't emailed.
To see a director in your contacts, click Open in Contacts in their seat's file.
Free a seat, or step down
- To end a director's seat, click Free this seat in their file, then confirm. They aren't emailed.
- A director can step down any time with the link in the email that confirmed their seat. The seat opens again and shows Stepped down with the date. You aren't emailed.
Sessions and advice from your directors aren't in Board of Directors yet, so a director's file shows 0 sessions for now.
